Why is consistency important
Product consistency means that your supplement will effectively contain the same formula in every capsule, or every scoop.
Since people consume supplements with the intention of gaining certain benefits from particular amounts of ingredient compounds, it is vital that every capsule contains those expected amounts. If they do not the effectiveness of the supplement will change day to day and the effects could change.
Aside from effectiveness, a lack of product consistency can pose health issues too. If an ingredient is concentrated in a single capsule, instead of distributed across them all, then there could be too large a quantity of it in the capsule which could have health implications. While there are very limited situations where this is the case, it is paramount that brands and manufacturers are aware of the issue and take steps to prevent it.
Consumers need to be confident that any capsules from any tub of a given supplement will give a consistent result. While there will inevitably be some variance from capsule to capsule, there are steps that manufacturers can take to ensure that consistency meets required levels.
It starts with ingredients
In order to have a consistent final product, the ingredients it is made from need to be reliably sourced. Ingredient suppliers should carry out testing on the ingredients they sell to ensure that there are no discrepancies in quality. If the ingredient is a mixture of powders then they should ensure that these powders are thoroughly mixed together and tested to specify the amount of each powder that is present in any random selection from the ingredient.
Manufacturing for product consistency
Once consistent, quality ingredients have been chosen, they need to be made into the desired supplement.
The first step is to weigh out the correct proportions of each ingredient for the batch. This has to be calculated and carried out extremely precisely to ensure the same amount of powder is in every batch.
After each ingredient is measured, the powder is put into a mixing machine for 45 minutes to make sure that it is fully mixed and each part of the compound is evenly distributed. A sample of this powder is stored here at G&G in case it is needed for future reference.

Here at G&G we use semi-automatic machines for capsule filling. The machines fill the capsules in accordance with the settings that our expert machine operators input. They choose inputs based on the specific formula they are encapsulating.
Regular checks of capsule weight are made and recorded to ensure there is a consistent amount of powder per capsule. They then send off the capsules to the quality control area of the cleanroom. These numbers are referenced between batches to ensure that there is a consistency between the batches.
We carry out metal detection and capsule cleaning for safety and presentability respectively. Then we check every capsule by hand, removing any defects before filling the rest into tubs.
